Packing List for winter camping!

List of things to bring cold weather camping.

(Click HERE to read about winter camping with my 75 year old mom! And click HERE to read about New Year's Eve below freezing beach camping.)

When I go camping in the winter I try to plan ahead and be prepared for whatever weather. I research the average temperatures and average precipitation in the area I'm planning to camp so that I can get an idea of what to expect even if I'm making reservations way ahead of time. (Many of the best campgrounds book up months in advance all year round.) The wind conditions in winter are important to consider also. Camping on any beachfront or mountainside in winter requires consideration of wind, including extra stakes, tie downs, bungee cords and other stabilizing equipment is necessary.

I also suggest you always try to purchase firewood locally when you arrive at your camping area. Bringing firewood from other places can spread invasive species.
